Comprehensive Brake Repair Services

We provide a full range of auto brake repair services to ensure your vehicle performs at its best. Our services include:

Anti-Lock Brake System
The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) ensures your wheels keep rotating during braking, preventing skidding and providing better control. If your ABS light illuminates, visit Covenant Automotive Repair & Service for a diagnosis and professional brake repair.

Brake Fluid Flushes
Brake fluid can absorb moisture from the air over time, diminishing brake effectiveness and becoming corrosive, potentially harming the system. Regular brake fluid flushes are vital to ensure fresh fluid usage in your vehicle. Consult our technicians to determine the right time for a brake fluid flush.

Brake Hoses
A brake hose carries pressurized brake fluid from the master cylinder to the brakes. A damaged hose can lead to delayed or weak braking, and a leak may result in brake failure. While the need for a replacement brake hose isn't common, any signs of cracking or wear should prompt immediate replacement.

Brake Pad & Shoe Replacement
Squealing brakes often indicate brake pad issues. When brake pads deteriorate completely, a harsh metal-on-metal grinding noise occurs during braking, indicating potential rotor or drum damage. Although experienced individuals may attempt home repairs, if you have brake concerns, it's best to consult an auto repair professional promptly in order to receive the highest quality auto brake repair.

Caliper Replacement
The brake caliper houses brake pads and clamps around the rotor to apply pressure during braking. Caliper problems can cause uneven braking, leading to skidding during braking and loss of control in adverse weather conditions. Contact Covenant Automotive Repair & Service in Tucson at your earliest convenience for assistance.

Resurface Rotors
In a disc brake system, rotors attach to your vehicle's wheels. The friction with brake pads over time creates grooves and cracks. The process of resurfacing restores rotors to a "like-new" condition, reducing noise and wobbling.

Signs of Bad Brakes in Tucson

Your brakes are one of the most important safety features of your vehicle, and staying alert to potential issues is key—especially when driving through busy areas in Tucson. Knowing what to watch for can help you avoid unexpected breakdowns and costly repairs.

High-Pitched Squealing

A squealing noise is often an early indicator that your brake pads are wearing down. Addressing this early can help prevent damage to other components.

Shaking Steering Wheel When Braking

If your steering wheel shakes when you apply the brakes, it may be a sign of uneven rotor wear. This can affect both comfort and control while driving.

Longer Stopping Distances

If your vehicle doesn’t stop as quickly as it should, it’s a clear sign your braking system needs attention. This can be dangerous in high-traffic situations.

Visible Wear on Brake Components

In some cases, you may be able to see worn brake pads or damaged rotors through your wheels. If anything looks worn or uneven, it’s best to have it inspected.

Auto Brake Repair FAQs

Hopefully we can help answer some brake repair related questions you may have:

Why Are my Brakes Making a Grinding Noise?

A grinding sound from your brakes often signals that they're severely worn and require immediate attention. This noise typically means the brake pads have worn down to the rotors.

Why Are my Brakes Squeaking?

Squeaking brakes can result from small stones or debris caught in the pads, or it may indicate that the pads are wearing thin. It's a sign that your brakes might need inspection or replacement.

Why are my brakes making a burning smell?

A burning smell from your brakes can occur if they overheat from excessive use. If you notice a chemical odor or smoke, pull over safely and allow the brakes to cool to avoid further damage.

Why Are My Brakes Vibrating?

Vibration when braking usually points to an issue with uneven rotor surfaces. Over time, rotors can wear unevenly, causing vibrations through the steering wheel when you apply the brakes.

How Do You Repair a Sticking Brake Caliper?

A sticking brake caliper can cause uneven braking, poor fuel efficiency, or even serious damage if ignored. The repair typically involves inspecting the caliper slides and pins for corrosion, cleaning or replacing them as needed, and ensuring proper lubrication. In some cases, the entire caliper may need to be rebuilt or replaced-especially if the piston is seized or the rubber boot is torn.

While some experienced DIYers might attempt this at home, brake system repairs are best left to trained professionals to ensure your safety. If your brakes feel off or you suspect a caliper issue, stop by Covenant Automotive Repair & Service so our technicians can take a look and get you safely back on the road.

We found our former auto repair shop closed only to "randomly" pull into Mark Knaak's, Covenant Automotive, LLC today. While it makes sense to get an appointment, they performed mechanical service on two of our cars without hesitation. They were pleasant to work with, asked appropriate questions, provided information and excellent service second to none. Mark is a VERY experienced mechanic and able to work on almost ANY make or model. He specializes in "high end" luxury vehicles. Raise your prices, Mark! You deserve EVERY penny. THANK YOU. We'll be back!

Mark was honest, kind, worked very efficiently, and made my experience at Covenant Automotive not only enjoyable but heaven sent. I will certainly be taking my Nissan to him and his team as long as they are in business in Tucson. Thank you Mark for your kind heart and excellent service!

Very impressed! I just dropped in before 3pm on 2/19/2018 with my 2001 F150 Lariat, thinking I might need a fuel filter replacement..."Service Engine Soon" light was lit. When they checked, it was determined the truck was misfiring on #8. I thought I'd have to arrange another day to bring it in for the estimated 3 hour job; Mark assured me that he could get two guys to work on it right away, and if they had to go a little past 5, they'd do whatever was needed to get me going. Well, a whole set of plugs and a new coil, and they finished at 4:50! Amazing work!

My stepdad brings in our cars to Mark and he does a fabulous job taking care of them! I took my Nissan Maxima in for an oil change and to get my splash guard nailed back into place. They took excellent care of my car and I am very impressed with them! Will be back with my husband's car for an oil change, and will keep coming back! The oil change is a great price for the service that you receive!

Mark has worked on my Mercedes E350...and now a doge journey (only an oil change and inspection before cross country trip.) The service and above all, honesty you'll get here is just the best. We're moving east and will miss them!
